Intro to My Favorites

Intro to My Favorites

I have no idea what I am doing trying to start a blog. This is definitely an impulsive decision!
Definition of decision... a choice that you make about something after thinking about it : the result of deciding.
I have to say there wasn't much thought that went into this.

So here it is... I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and  friend.

My favorite things include a little bit of ...cooking, gardening (including native plants), photography, ancestry research, travel, antique shopping, love of old houses (wish I had one), my children and  my grandchildren. Just to name a few!

Let me start with a little bit of ancestry....

This is my dad, Jack, holding me sometime in May 1954. I was born on April 15, 1954. Don't laugh when I tell you that I have a part-time job preparing tax returns. I usually celebrate my birthday sometime in May! My dad was graduating from Cincinnati Bible Seminary in May of 1954. The Seminary is now a part of Cincinnati Christian University. He was a minister for over 40 years, serving congregations in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. He passed away on March 28, 2013. My parents were due to celebrate their 60th anniversary that following Sunday, March 31, 2013. It was Easter Sunday.

The next four photos combine two of my favorites. Photography and travel. 2009 my husband, Greg and I took my parents to Yellowstone. It was to be my dad's last trip. So glad we had the opportunity to take them with us. These are some of my favorite photos from that trip.

Photography and travel, again!
Cemetery in Savannah. During the Union occupation of Savannah, the Union army camped around this cemetery. To make room for tents they had removed some of the tombstones. After the war, there were tombstones that were not able to be replaced in their original locations. These are now lining the back wall of the cemetery.

Old Mission in San Antonio, TX. Trip in 2001 to visit our son and daughter-in-law in Corpus Christi, TX. Our son was finishing flight training with the Marine Corp so we took the opportunity to do a little bit of sightseeing. A quick trip to San Antonio for the day. I did take a photo of the Alamo but haven't downloaded it yet.

More photography and travel. We took a trip to Franklin, TN touring several Civil War sites. The Carnton Plantation was one of the house tours.

Leaving Franklin we started down the Natchez Trace stopping at the grave of Meriweather Lewis among other sites along the way.

We left the Natchez Trace and drove into Florence, AL to tour the Rosenbaum House. A design by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
